This course emphasizes the five themes of geography, location, place, human-environmental interaction, movement, and regions. Students will study the six main continents and learn about cultures, the history, religions, and changes happening in the modern world. Students are encouraged to keep up with current events, and discussions on relevant events will play a significant role in this course. One of the purposes of geography is to open the mind and senses of students to better understand people and places around the world.
Critical reading for meaning, effective note-taking, use of maps, understanding of art, text analysis of primary sources, and weekly essay-writing form the key skills taught and practiced throughout the year.
